The Bryan County School System is accepting applications for a shared Instructional Technology Specialist at Bryan County Middle School and Bryan County High School. The successful candidate must meet all certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.  This position is on a 195-day work calendar and would receive extra compensation for the extra work days.

 

Position Overview:

  • Provide resources, support, and professional development to help educators integrate technology into teaching and learning
  • Facilitate technology initiatives through departmental, school, and district based committees
  • Support digital age learning environments
  • Design and lead professional development courses
  • Demonstrate content knowledge and professional growth
  • Promote digital citizenship
  • Improve Bryan County Schools technological environment through innovation, enhancement, and creativity

Essential Job Duties:

  • Model, promote, and facilitate safe, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technology tools to interact locally and globally with students, peers, adults, and community
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators in the selection, location, evaluation, and use of appropriate digital tools and resources that align with district policies and initiatives
  • Survey, solicit, and observe faculty and staff to identify instructional technology deficiencies, needs, and develop applicable solutions
  • Promote digital-age best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment by modeling, planning and conducting professional development activities that correlate to district and state technology initiatives
  • Collaborate in the management of a digital repository of teacher created model lessons
  • Co-teach and instruct students and teachers about the use of technology
  • Work with administrators, faculty, and staff to embed technology into the curriculum
  • Plan, provide training, and support on the use of the student information system
  • Form and/or co-lead media/technology committees at respective schools with the Media Specialist
  • Assist in the development of school technology budgets based on school specific objectives
  • Update faculty and staff on technology plans, procedures, and policies
  • Support online testing and evaluation systems
  • Represent school’s technology interests in departmental and system meetings
  • Assist, as needed, with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer workstation hardware, software, and peripherals
  • Utilize the work order system to manage technology issues
  • Enhance professional growth by attending instructional technology based conferences and workshops; reading current publications; and collaborating with peers through professional associations and organizations

Job Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certificate
  • Knowledge of technology utilization in a classroom environment
  • Ability to plan, provide training, and support for the use of available data from technology tools to help with instructional decisions
  • Strong technology skills
  • Knowledge of student information systems
  • Work without direct supervision
  • Provide self with transportation between campuses
  • Ability to work in a team environment
