Bryan County is the fastest growing county in Georgia and the sixth fastest growing county in the country.  Considering this exceptional growth, Bryan County Schools is accepting applications for Principal candidates for anticipated vacancies beginning with the 2024-25 school year. 

 

Position Overview 

 

The Bryan County Schools principal will provide instructional leadership to all staff within his/her building, with a focus on building teacher capacity that improves instruction and student achievement.  The principal is expected to build an equitable and sustainable positive culture within the building that is committed to the ongoing development and well-being of its students, teachers and staff. 

 

The principal must be thoroughly familiar with the current teacher and administrator evaluation system and share the belief that all young people deserve access to an excellent education, as well as have a proven track record of attaining exemplary academic results.  The candidate must also possess strong organizational, operational and interpersonal skills, and be a flexible and creative problem-solver.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's degree (Specialist degree or higher preferred) from an accredited college/university with an emphasis in supervision, educational leadership and school curriculum;

  • Must possess or meet the qualifications for Georgia Educational certification through Georgia Professional Standards Commission in the field of Educational Leadership or equivalent out-of-state leadership certification;

  • Prior experience in school leadership activities required;

  • Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience may be considered which provide the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform effectively in this position.

     

Skills and Abilities

  • Have demonstrated experience as a successful leader and a commitment to academic excellence, and knowledge of current developments in education. The position requires: an ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; a minimum of three to five years of experience in a leadership role, preferably a leadership role in a public school system that has included various areas of responsibility; a demonstrated record of success raising test scores and academic climate providing an outstanding education for students.

  • Possess the highest standards of integrity and a strong moral and ethical character;

  • Be approachable, accessible and highly visible;

  • Be capable of thinking clearly and staying focused under pressure;

  • Be civic-minded, while maintaining the high standards outlined in the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Code of Ethics for Educators.

Essential Job Duties

 

The principal will provide leadership in the following areas to ensure:

  • School Development: that frameworks and practices are in place to ensure regular cycles of strategic planning and annual goal setting that incorporates data on student performance and stakeholder feedback;

  • Teaching and Learning: that people and resources are allocated appropriately to achieve school goals;

  • School Culture and Behavior: the development of an explicit shared vision for the school that incorporates the voices and perspectives of diverse stakeholders and opinions;

  • Management and Development of People, Systems, and Resources: that principles of best practice and integrity guide all school operations;

  • Parent and Community Relations: robust parent and community engagement that supports students' success and the needs of the school community.

Placement on the Principal salary scale is determined by verified, previous experience in the role of an administrator.

 

Physical Requirements

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
